QB Pennington had a bad day throwing an INT that was returned for a TD and a few more errant off-balanced throws that could have gone for more INTs. Even in his 39 yard TD he threw to a double covered Ginn when Camarillo was wide open, but Ginn caught it. Pennington also missed a few passes and at times you could see his lack of arm strength as it seemed like it took the ball ages to get outside. His numbers for the day - 22 of 36 209 yards, a TD and an INT. C-
RB Ricky had a good game while Ronnie was below average except from the TD run. Ricky had a nice 51 yard FG off the wildcat and finished the game with 12 cariies for 105 yards. Ronnie had 10 for 39 yards and his 9th TD of the year. B+
WR An average dat for the WRs group, part of it because of the average day of the QB position. Ginn had a great catch while double teamed for the 39 yard score. He finished with 4 receptions for 67 yards and his 1st TD of the year. Martin was quiet but blocked really well. Fasano has slowed down after the ultr-hot start. B-
OL The run-blocking was mediocre at best and the pass blocking was also average as Chad was hurried all day, the depth there is ridicously thin. C
LB A decent game by the defense led by the LBs. Crowder was active and so was Roth. A very quite game for Porter, he only had half a sack. B
DL Yes, they did get 2 sacks from Holiday and a Roth-Starks combo, but they gave Wallace too much time to throw. Aside from Porter they just can't seem to rush the passer very well. B-
Secondary After briliant game last week they were OK this week. Wallace looked way better than he should have as WRs were, at times, left wide open. This can not happen against good teams or else... C+
Special teams They are just 11 awful players on the coverage team and 10 (Ginn is number 11) on the return team. A penalty negated Ginn's 100 yard kickoff return for a TD ro start the game. At least this year it helped Ginn score, last year the 2 TD called back because of penalties involved penalties away from the play. Ginn also had two other good returns of 36 and 31 yards in his other two tries. The coverage teams are just an adventure waiting to happen as they routinely miss blocks and allow long returns. This week it was a 50 yarder on a kick and a 30 yarder on a punt. If not for Ginn they would have gotten an F every week. C+ (without Ginn- F)
Coaching This was way too cose of a game. Seattle is 2-7 for a reason and at timed they looked confused and shaky but they won and they are now 5-4, unbeleivable as it may seem. Overall Sparano is looking like a great hire. They welcome the Raiders next in another should win game to prepare for the Pats. If they win against an inferior Raiders team and move to 6-4, well, dare we say playoff chances ? B
